What To Wear
For your family portrait session
What to wear, what to wear?
We've all be there! You have scheduled your session and now it is time to figure out what in the world everyone is going to wear.
To try minimise your stress, we have created a quick and easy styling guide to help co-ordinate your outfits and make this process as easy as possible for you and your family.

Steps for Styling Your Outfits
1.Start with the season
Each season is associated with its own colours and landscapes. Spring and Summer can be bright and airy, and works well with neutrals, pastels and beach tones. While Autumn and Winter lend itself to cozy layers and stylish accessories such as scarves, and jackets and works well with earthy and jewel tones.
2. Be comfortable
The most important thing to keep in mind is to be comfortable. If you and your kids are uncomfortable it will show in the photographs. Including kids in the decision making (with guidance) will help them feel part of the process and hopefully more willing to wear suggested outfits.

3. Mix and Match
Not everything has to match (unless that is your preference). Start with your inspiration outfit, pattern or pick one colour you absolutely love. Determine what accent colours work best with it to formulate your family's colour palette. The Palette will then guide everyone else's outfits. Each person can have a different focal colour. Try to limit patterns to one person.
4. Accessories
Finish your look with layers that compliment your outfits. Consider adding a statement piece of jewellery, scarf, belts and jackets also work great. Simple, subtle touches and fabric textures add visual interest to your outfits and polish your photos.

Other Considerations
We recommend not wearing neon colours or high vis clothing.
Keep patterns to a minimum of one person, unless you have a large group.
Avoid clothes with large logos and graphics.
We recommend that you wear clothes that fit properly and do not irritate or bother you.
Ensure nappies and bras straps are covered.
Please do not have your pockets full of phones, keys or wallets.

Fashion and styling is a very personal thing. These are suggestions only and are based on what looks best in photos, however the most important thing is that everyone is happy and feels comfortable. The main focus of the photos is on capturing your true personalities, and the love and connection. you have as a family.
